100 Word Challenge Week 36

My great, great, grandfather lived in a small western town. Each year there was a shooting competition. On the day of the competition, the air was still, and the crowed watched in anticipation, as he stared down the barrel of the gun looking at the target. He slowly squeezed the trigger. Then the most shocking thing happened, the bullet ricocheted off the target and straight back at him, it hit the gun bending the barrel upwards. He was lucky to be alive. He won the competition and later a statue was made of his gun with the barrel tied in a knot, to signify that he never shot the gun again.

Looking at the tanks, piled high one on top of the other, I searched for my next fish. Finally, I spotted a chubby orange goldfish with flecks of brown on it's tail. ''That's the one,'' I told the employee as I pointed to the tank at the top of the pile. The employee brought over a ladder and climbed up to get my fish, carefully scooping him into a plastic bag. Slowly climbing down his foot slipped, and as he fell backwards he lost his grip and the bag flew up in the air. Reacting with lightning speed I caught the bag saving my new pet.

100 Word Challenge Week #20

As we kayaked through the rapids in skull river, my heart was pounding, as the water splashed and sprayed over us. The current was guiding us through the rocks as we accelerated down the river. I thought that I could hear shouting but the roar of the water was so loud that it drowned out everything. We were moving very fast when all of a sudden, I realized that we were racing towards a major drop off, the giant waterfall was only one hundred feet away. Paddling vigorously against the current we fought to reach the shore. We bailed out of the kayak not knowing what to do next.

100 word challenge week#16

Each day I look down into the streets, watching all the people scurrying by, going about their business. I know they can see me perched high on top this building, but I wonder what they think. Do they think I am a statue? Do they wonder why I am here? Cursed to live my life trapped inside this hand. I wonder day and night, why did this happen to me? Will I ever be free? Across the street, I watch the clock tower as time tick’s past, hours turn to days and days turn to years.

My name is George and I'm a monkey. I can't believe it! Two years and I'm finally on the last level of Donkey kong. I turned my laptop on. Today is the day I finally beat the boss! I see him at the top of the mountain. Just a few more clicks and I'll be there. At the top of the mountain he charges. I immediately press X-Y-W-Z for the super mega final strike. Suddenly the game closes. Quickly opening the game my heart racing like a chimp being chased by a lion, and there were the dreaded words…LEVEL 1. “Nooooooooo,” I said, and forcefully pushed my laptop off the table.

100 Word Challenge Week #11

As soon as I saw it I knew there was something ominous about the statue.  People called it the soul stealer; just gazing upon it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.  The legend was that a sorcerer was summoned, but his powers were so mighty that a curse was cast upon him molding him into a statue.  A feeling of dread suddenly came over me; as I quickly walked away I had the eerie feeling I was being watched.  I turned to see him looking at me with a menacing grin spread across his grotesque face, I was terrified!

I was mesmerized by the campfire as it glowed red with shades of orange. It crackled and popped like distant fireworks, and the smell of roasted marshmallows filled the air. A single flame shot up higher than the rest and glowing embers decorated the sky. The embers were swimming and dancing like a scene from a movie, as we celebrated another great day. As the cinders slowly burnt out and turned into white ash they floated effortlessly to the ground. The light of the campfire started to dwindle, and my eyes grew heavy as I drifted off to sleep with dreams of tomorrow.
